Martí Lives

A Visual Imaginarium
by Jerry A. Sierra

Welcome to the web component for my book about José Martí the myth and the man, featuring images of Martí in myth form; as a Super Martí, as one of the three wise men, as a visiting alien from a far off planet... and as himself.

The book commemorates the 120th anniversary of Martí’s death in battle with speculative images and stories in which Martí’s after-life reaches new levels of visual elucidation and iconography.

The history portion (at the end of the book) includes a bio, a timeline and parts of a historic speech at Tampa Bay.

Martí was a revolutionary figure as well as a major writer and inspirational icon to Cubans and Spanish-speaking Americans.

I hope that the items on these pages will encourage you to buy the book, embrace the myth and learn something about the man some still call El Maestro...
